Naval chief chairs BU BoG meeting
Islamabad:Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf NI(M), T Bt, in his capacity as pro-chancellor/ chairman BoG, chaired the 51st Board of Governors (BoG) meeting at Bahria University (BU) here, says a press release.
The session of BoG commenced with a detailed briefing to the board on salient activities of the university and developmental programmes. The board was briefed regarding the accreditation of Bahria University Health Sciences Campus here, with PMDC and commencement of classes from January 2025.
The progress on development of Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP), which is a signature initiative aimed at tapping and boosting economy potential was also discussed. The session further discussed the development and diversification in academic disciplines, and commencement of new programme, Bahria University Hashoo School of Hospitality Management (BU - HSHM), focused on enhancing hospitality education.
The Chief of the Naval Staff appreciated the tireless and dedicated efforts of the faculty and management on achieving positions in QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Ranking - Computer Science and Information Systems, Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking - Social Sciences, QS World University Ranking - Sustainability and Ul GreenMetric World University Ranking 2024.
He commended that the significant milestone is a testament to the collective efforts, dedication, and unwavering commitment of BU’s management and faculty. He further acknowledged that Bahira University in not only imparting quality education to the students but also enhancing its footprints in different domains and sectors. He urged that special focus be given in developing skills like critical thinking, solution-oriented approach, research & development, innovation, problem-solving and professional grooming among the students.
The BoG meeting was attended by board members including Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral (r) Asif Khaliq HI(M), Vice Chancellors/ Senior academicians, senior Naval/ Civil officers and relevant top management of Bahria University.
