Car showroom owner, cable operator, mentally unstable person shot dead in separate incidents
Three people, including a car showroom owner, a cable operator and a mentally unstable person, were shot dead in separate firing incidents in parts of the city on Thursday.
The owner of a car showroom was shot dead in Defence Housing Authority Phase II. Following the firing, police and rescue workers reached the scene and transported the casualty to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the deceased person was identified as Kamal Sadiq.
Police said the killer had been identified as Shafi Khan who was involved in a monetary dispute with Sadiq. After a heated argument, the suspect opened fire on the victim. He also shot himself and was injured.
Sadiq succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital. Police arrested Khan, from Jinnah hospital and seized the weapon used in the incident. A case has been registered and investigations are under way.
Separately, a man was killed and two others wounded in a violent incident in Korangi. Police said the incident occurred in Korangi Sector 33-C. Upon receiving the information, police and rescue workers reached the crime scene and transported the casualties to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the deceased person was identified as Faizan, 30. The injured persons included Faizan’s father Muhammad Umair and his friend Danish. 37, son of Ghulam Muhammad.
The deceased man was a cable operator and the father of three children. The victim’s father said that some robbers were trying to rob citizens at gunpoint when his son’s friend Danish took out his licensed pistol and opened fire on them, prompting them to escape.
However, following the incident, four brothers who ran a cold drink shop in the area arrived with their friends and caught Danish declaring him a robber. The father said the men tied Danish to a tree and tried to hang him to death, upon which his son tried to rescue his friend.
Umair said that as Faizan tried to save Danish, one of the four brothers, Rehan, opened fire, killing Faizan on the spot and injuring him and Danish. The police have registered a case and initiated investigations.
Meanwhile, a mentally challenged man was shot dead within the limits of the Surjani Town. The incident took place on the night between Wednesday and Thursday in Surjani Town Sector 10.
Police and rescue workers reached the crime scene and transported the casualty to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased man was identified as 32-year-old Syed Sajid Hussain, son of Syed Zahid Hussain, who resided in the same area.
According to police, the deceased was mentally unstable and he also used to perform duties as a local mosque’s caretaker. His father stated that they had no enmity with anyone. Police said the victim was shot in the back, resulting in his death. The motive behind the killing is yet to be determined, and investigations are under way. A case was registered against unidentified suspects.
