SSWMB developing app to deliver waste disposal bills to industries
The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) is developing a mobile application for the delivery of waste disposal bills to the industries.
The SSWMB managing director, Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah, said that with the help of the mobile application, bills would be delivered in an organised way and unpaid bills would be tracked easily.
He said that with the help of the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) members, the industrial area could be cleaned and made free of environmental pollution. He remarked that some factories were throwing waste in open spaces, which was not only harmful to the people's health but also causing environmental pollution.
Shah said that a healthy society was based on cleanliness, and whether the waste was generated by households or industries, it was necessary to dispose of it in an organised manner.
He was holding a meeting with members of the KATI on Saturday. KATI President Syed Johar Ali Qandhari, Senior Vice President Nighat Awan, Chairman of the Standing Committee Saleem-uz-Zaman, Deputy Patron-in-Chief Muhammad Zubair Chhaya, former KATI president Faraz-ur-Rehman and others participated in the meeting.
The SSWMB chief said that an app was being developed to deliver cleaning bills in an organised way. He said the KATI members should provide all necessary data so that the app could be launched as soon as possible.
Through the app, bills and payments would be cleared on time and unpaid bills would also be tracked on time, Shah said, adding that data should be given according to the classification of industries categorised as A, B, and C, based on factory size staff, and waste amount. “This will help set bills accordingly,” he said.
A focal person from the KATI should be appointed for this task, he added. The KATI president praised the performance of the SSWMB and said that whenever they requested the SSWMB for help with cleaning, the board fully cooperated. KATI members shared their problems during the meeting.
