Playing in Pakistan an awesome experience: Ben Sears

LAHORE: New Zealand’s pacer Ben Sears was happy with the experience of playing against a top quality Pakistan team and in front of the amazing crowds during the five-match T20 series which concluded here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday night.

“It has been an awesome experience,” Sears said.

“The crowd and grounds have been amazing and obviously playing well against the oppositions which have been awesome,” he said.

The Wellington-born Ben Sears is the son of former New Zealand’s first-class cricketer Michael John Sears.

The right-armer said that keeping a right length helped during Pakistan’s series.

“Yes, its different. There is no much bounce and it skids on and it poses the challenge if you find the right length. And, yes, there has been a little more slow balls bowled and I tried to exploit the conditions,” he said.

He also acknowledged the talent of top order batsman Tim Robinson.

“Tim Robinson is a great guy, a great deal of talent and I am extremely happy for him to get the opportunity and he did unbelievably well last night,” Ben said.

He admitted that it was a fine opportunity to play against a quality Pakistan team which has world-class players like skipper Babar Azam.

“Yes, it was a very good opportunity to play against the quality Pakistan side. We managed the first win convincingly; the last game went to the last ball and at times it was a bit tough but we made in the end. The crowd was awesome and to play in the pressure environment like that and it was a valuable experience,” he said.

He said that the last game on Saturday night would be another great opportunity to play against quality players.

“Its another chance to play against world class players like Babar Azam. Yes, he is a formidable opponent, Fakhar Zaman at the top of the order, unbelievable talent and their bowling line-up, the yorkers their pacers bowled were incredibly well and the spinners were amazing. It’s a precious opportunity to play against the team which is incredibly talented at their home conditions,” he said.

He said he enjoyed playing with a talented New Zealand bowling resources.

“It has been great. I have played with Jacob Duffy. Every time he got the opportunity and it’s awesome with the game with them and yeah like Zakary Foulkes, their execution and game plan and just to watch and learn from them,” he said.

After going wicketless in the first game which Pakistan won Ben Sears did well in the fourth T20 by taking two wickets to play a role in his side’s win.
