Three booked for misleading police

LAHORE:Police registered cases against three people who tried to mislead police in two incidents here on Monday. Awais Naveed of Gulshan-e-Iqbal attempted to commit suicide after shooting himself. He got injuries, but he falsely told police that he was injured by robbers in a robbery incident. Police investigated and found that he was misleading the police. A case has been registered against him. One Mazhar was injured by his rivals over old enmity. But his rivals Qurban Chaidoo and Zaman Chaidoo gave the incident a colour of robbery. After investigation, police registered a case against the accused.

Man dies in cylinder blast

A 30-year-old motorcyclist carrying a cylinder died after it exploded on Multan Road near Chowk Yateem Khana. The victim identified as Amir Liaqat was killed when a cylinder on his bike exploded. His body has been moved to morgue for autopsy. Police said that they were investigating the matter further.

86 held in crackdown on drug peddlers

Punjab Police raided 236 locations and arrested 86 drug peddlers across the province on Monday. The police booked 83 drug dealers and seized 56 kg charas, one kg heroin, 840 gram ice and 828 litre liquor during the crackdown. According to Punjab Police spokesperson, 16,487 raids were conducted on the base of drug dealers throughout the province during the special campaign launched since February 26 and 7,842 cases were registered against drug dealers and 8,322 accused were arrested and 5,330 kg charas, 97 kg heroin, 216 kg opium, 27 kg ice and 105,048 litre liquor were recovered from the accused. In this connection, IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has urged RPOs and DPOs to dismantle drug supply chain and take action as a priority in the vicinity of educational institutions and hostels daily.

Cops transferred

The Punjab government has issued notification regarding transfer and posting of two police officer on Monday. According to the notification DPO Sargodha Muhammad Faisal has been transferred and posted as DIG Operations Lahore vice Ali Nasir Rizvi who has been relieved of duties in Punjab and directed to report Establishment Division for further posting as IG Islamabad. Moreover DPO Faisalabad Muhammad Ali Jah has also been transferred and posted as SSP Telecommunications Lahore.

Awards for 11 cops

IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar conferred gallantry awards on eleven cops for demonstrating excellent determination, courage and bravery in the line of duty and dangerous situations. Addressing a ceremony arranged in honour of the cops at the Central Police Office, the IGP congratulated them and said for the protection of life and property of citizens and elimination of crimes, operations should be speeded up across the province. The IGP stressed improvement in crime fighting initiatives with effective use of modern technology.
