Health, education priority of Punjab govt
LAHORE: Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir visited Sundus Foundation's Thalassemia Centre, Shadman.
President of Sundus Foundation Muhammad Yasin Khan along with his staff welcomed the ministers. Senior journalists Sohail Warraich and Khalid Abbas Dar, Abdul Sattar, Ali Rauf, Dr Adnan, Muhammad Yaqub, Dr Saima Farhan, Dr Saira Moin and Dr Zahid Parvez were present on this occasion.
The ministers also reviewed the blood exchange facilities, labs and donation delivery mechanisms at Sundus Foundation. They Spent time with children suffering from thalassemia and hemophilia. They also distributed gifts among the children suffering from thalassemia.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the test of boy and girl before marriage is very important. Parents of children suffering from thalassemia are going through a tough test. After passing the legislation in the Punjab Assembly, implementation will also be made mandatory. In thalassemia, both the patient and his family have to go through suffering. Timely administration of blood is a test for the patient and for the family members. Sundus Foundation is a great endeavour of Munnu Bhai which will keep him alive forever. Sundus Foundation has been providing free blood donations to patients suffering from blood diseases for the past 26 years. The Foundation has the full support of the Punjab government. Parents should make sure to get tested before marriage to protect their children from the disease. We should avoid cousin marriage to prevent disease. Philanthropists should actively participate in this good cause.
Khawaja Imran Nazir said that improvement of health and education sector is among the top priorities of the CM. I am always disturbed to see the children suffering from thalassemia at Sundus Foundation. Ensuring clean blood is also an important responsibility in treatment. Blood Transfusion Authority was established under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif. In 2018, health plans were intentionally discontinued by Champions.
Minister visits PICProvincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique visited the Punjab Institute of Cardiology to review the ongoing progress on operation theatres. PIC CEO Prof Dr Anjum Jalal, MS Dr Syed Mohsin Ali Shah and contractors were present on this occasion.
The minister said that the work of modular theatres was completed ninety percent. Work has been done day and night to complete all the modular theatres at Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
