LAHORE:A man and his sister were burnt alive when a fire broke out in a house in the limits of Barki police on Tuesday. The fire broke out in the house due to a short circuit. The victims were identified as Tahir and his sister Wajeeha. On receiving the information about the incident, the rescue teams and the police reached the spot. Police said that Tahir and Wajeeha, who were mentally retarded, were sleeping in the room when the fire broke out. The police shifted bodies to the mortuary.
1,997 held for violating Kite Flying Act
Lahore police registered 1,940 cases while arrested 1,997 individuals for violating Kite Flying Act during the ongoing crackdown. The police recovered 39,400 kites and 1,671 spools of kite strings. As per the spokesperson for Lahore police, 450 persons were arrested by Cantt Division, 170 by Civil Lines Division, 455 by City Division, 265 by Iqbal Town Division, 292 by Sadar Division, and 365 persons were arrested by Model Town Division.
Seven die in road accidents in 24 hours
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,295 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these accidents, seven people died, whereas 1,395 were injured. Out of these, 612 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 783 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by Rescue medical teams.
3 robbers arrested
Safe City apprehended a three-member gang of robbers. The gang was targeting citizens in various areas of Lahore. The Safe City team traced the culprits with the help of various cameras footage and tracked their vehicles.
