RAWALPINDI: Former Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi has been shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after his health deteriorated in Adiala Jail on Wednesday, the jail sources said.
A team of doctors worked to stabilise him and now his condition has improved but he would remain under treatment, the PIMS sources told this correspondent.
According to jail sources the health of the PTI leader, suddenly deteriorated in his cell, adding that first he was taken to the jail’s hospital and later shifted to PIMS where the doctors started his treatment. Following preliminary examination, CT scans, X-rays, and additional blood tests were also conducted.
The former chief minister had suffered multiple injuries a few days ago when he fell in the washroom and fractured his right rib. He also suffered an injury to his forehead and visible marks were noted on the left side of his head, medical reports say.
Earlier, Pervez Elahi was admitted to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology due to chest pains.
