Conflict between KP AG, officers intensifies
The committee recommended cancelling the houses allotted to six officers
PESHAWAR: The dispute between the Accountant General (AG) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the officers regarding the cancellation of houses intensified.
The Accountant General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (AG-KP) has taken a drastic step and cancelled the allotment of houses allotted to six officers of the AG Office transferred from Peshawar. The committee has declared that officials are occupying government houses illegally while it has decided to recover Rs2.924 million from the four officers.
On the other hand, the affected officers have refused to vacate the houses, calling the management committee’s decision illegal. One of the officers on condition of anonymity told this correspondent that the management committee rules 2010 conflicted with the federal government housing rules. They said the government officers have the right to keep an official house in any city, so the officers can keep the official residence in Peshawar despite transfer.
Official documents revealed that a meeting of the housing management committee to review the government flats and houses of the AG office was held under the chairmanship of Akbar Khan, Accountant General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was observed that many officers have been transferred but still they are staying illegally in the AGP residence.
The committee recommended cancelling the houses allotted to six officers. At the same time, it was decided to recover dues from the defaulters, while around Rs1.071 have been recovered from the officers till February 29, 2024.
It was recommended to receive Rs47770 from Shah Mehmood Khan, Rs1330962 from Muhammad Sharif Khan, Rs3669903 from Muhammad Qayyum, and Rs746159 from Safeer Ahmad.
The committee recommended that the allotment to the former Additional Accountant General Shah Mehmood Khan may be cancelled as the officer is not entitled to category-A residence being posted outside the prescribed/entitled offices according to policy and, hence comes under illegal occupation.
The committee also recommended that upon vacation of Bungalow No.1, the same may be allotted to Syed Bilal Ahmad Shah Additional AGPR (SO) Peshawar.
Similarly, the PA&AS officer Muhammad Sharif was allotted a B-category flat as he has been transferred so it was decided to vacate the flat. The committee recommended that the allotment to the Additional AGPR Mohammad Qayyum may be cancelled as the officer is not entitled to the category-B residence being posted outside the prescribed/entitled offices.
It was recommended that the flat allotted to former DAGAG KP Zain-ul- Abedin may be cancelled as the officer is not entitled to the category-B residence being posted outside the prescribed/entitled offices.
Furthermore, the committee also approved the withdrawal of the category-B flat from former AAG Asadullah and DAGKP Samiullah because both officers are not entitled to the category-B residence being posted outside the prescribed offices.
