ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to ensure within a month payment of Rs60 billion as pension to its retired employees.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah dismissed the review petition filed by the NBP against its judgment binding the state-owned bank to pay pensions equal to government employees.

The court upheld its judgement delivered in 2017, directing the state-owned bank to pay pensions to its more than 11,000 retired employees. In 2017, the apex court had directed the state-owned bank to pay pensions equal to government employees.
