‘Transparency in health projects to be ensured’

LAHORE: Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has reviewed the ongoing development schemes and revamping plans in the health sector in the province. The minister presided over a meeting held here at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education. Special Secretary Development Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Additional Secretary Agha Nabeel, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Deputy Director Finance Hamad ur Rab and other officers participated.

The officers concerned also briefed the health minister in this regard. The minister said on this occasion that all development projects of the health sector have been instructed to be completed on time. Officers should personally monitor the project of revamping government hospitals. We will ensure 100% transparency in every development project. Development projects will be completed on a priority basis.

While talking to a group of journalists, the minister said that the media in Pakistan is playing the best role of the fourth pillar of the state. We thank the media for pointing out the weaknesses of the system for reforming the health sector. Improvement of the health sector is impossible without the help of the media. The media is the eyes and ears of any government. Under the leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz, we have come to serve the people with a new spirit. The people have re-trusted the PMLN, we will not let their trust break. Currently, Pakistan is facing economic challenges. Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif was the first in Punjab to start the health card project. Improving the conditions of government hospitals of Punjab will be the first priority, he added.

Awareness walks

Two awareness walks were organised on the occasion of World Kidney Day on Thursday. The first walk was held at Allama Iqbal Medical College under the supervision of Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafiq.

Addressing the participants, the minister said efforts were underway to improve condition of government hospitals in the province and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given a complete road map in this regard. He said a complete audit of the revamping project of government hospitals was being conducted. The minister stressed a healthy lifestyle for a healthy life. The minister said the main objective of building PKLI was to provide the best medical facilities to patients suffering from kidney diseases.
