ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will take up the complaint of JUIF chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman about the woman who has been included in the list of reserve seats on behalf of the party but her name was never included in the JUIF’s party list.

The complaint would be heard by the commission on the day that would be determined by it today (Tuesday).

The ECP spokesperson wasn’t available for the comments till Monday evening but the sources said that it’s a serious mater, and would be reviewed and sorted out.

Earlier, Maulana Fazl sought investigation into a notification of what he called an “unknown” woman on his party’s reserved seat in the National Assembly by the ECP.

The ECP issued the notification, bearing number F6 of 2024, for the success of the said woman on the NA reserved seat from KP.

Taking exception the notification, Maulana Fazl submitted a request seeking the suspension of the notification and investigation into the matter. “Sadaf Sultan is neither from our party nor was named in our list. Notification for Sadaf Ehsan should be suspended and Ms Hina Bibi should be notified [on the reserved seat],” he demanded. He also raised a question of whether the notification for Sadaf was issued by mistake or there was some conspiracy working behind it. The commission allocated reserved seats in the NA and all four provincial assemblies early this month. The reserved seats were distributed among parties present in the assemblies as parliamentary party since the electoral watchdog ruled against allocating them to Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) which was a group consist of independent members backed by the PTI.
