Maryam promises upholding meritocracy

LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed her admiration for honest officers, emphasising the importance of integrity in public service. She vowed to uphold meritocracy and prevent any form of nepotism, stating that political appointments would not be tolerated under her administration. She also underscored the govt’s commitment to transparency in financial matters.

Addressing officials at the Darbar Hall Civil Secretariat, Maryam emphasised the importance of providing quality healthcare services to the public. She directed officials to prioritise the prevention of diseases like dengue and polio and to ensure the continuation of public utility projects in the health sector. She also highlighted her support for officers and employees who demonstrate dedication, stating that innovative ideas for public service improvement would be welcomed. She praised civil servants for their patriotism and commitment to public service, stating that accountability, transparency, and efficiency were non-negotiable principles. During her visit to the Punjab Civil Secretariat, Maryam commended the restoration project of the Civil Secretariat for preserving its historical significance. She also inaugurated a museum within the secretariat and reviewed ongoing projects.

Meanwhile, the CM also chaired a special meeting at the Chief Minister's Office to review suggestions and recommendations for the development of a comprehensive data bank of deserving individuals residing in Punjab.

Annoys at traffic stoppage during her commute to office

The chief minister expressed her displeasure over the traffic stoppage during her commute to the office. She emphasised that citizens should not suffer and directed authorities to improve traffic management. Maryam Nawaz left for the office from Raiwind at 8:15AM and arrived at the office at 9:00AM.

‘No plan to suspend arms licences’

A spokesperson for Chief Minister's Office has said there is no plan to suspend arms licences in Punjab. There is also no current decision to merge the education boards into a single provincial board.

The spokesperson stated that CM has not issued any directive regarding the suspension of arms licences. No decision has been made regarding the education boards, and there is no directive from Maryam Nawaz on this matter. The media is urged to verify news before broadcasting it.

Orders roads, streets repair

Maryam Nawaz sought suggestions from members of the assembly and announced a project for repairing streets across the province. She also called for a plan to ensure the supply of clean drinking water and sewage systems in villages, as well as an immediate plan for the repair of small roads and streets in cities and villages.

She emphasised the goal of making every constituency a model of development projects and urged for the immediate resolution of people's issues. Members of the Punjab Assembly from Sheikhupura and Kasur met with Maryam Nawaz and congratulated her on assuming the post of CM. Parvaiz Rasheed, MPA Marriyum Aurangzeb, Azma Bukhari, Bilal Kiyani, and Sania Ashiq were also present.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the martyred SP Ijaz Khan Sherpao in MattaKatling, expressing grief over his death. She extended her condolences to his family, praising his bravery in fighting against the enemies of Pakistan and its people.
