DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two labourers and a cop embraced martyrdom and another two workers sustained injuries when heavily armed militants attacked the Aba Shaheed check-post of the police late Monday night, official sources said.

The sources said the militants staged two attacks in quick succession on the police check-post. However, the cops returned the fire and forced the attackers to retreat.

The attackers again reorganised and staged the second attack on the police check-post. Two labourers and a cop were martyred in the second attack. Another two labourers were injured in the attack. The cops manning the checkpost were equipped with thermal cameras which enabled them to detect the movement of militants. The militants staged two successive attacks on the police, but they could not overrun the picket. A sporadic exchange of fire continued between the cops and militants. Later the militants fled from the area. In the morning, the police launched a search operation during which the bodies of two labourers were found. The slain laborers were identified as Aashiq and Qamar Zaman. Two more labourers were found injured and were rushed to a hospital.
