Fair elections need of hour, says IJI leader
LAHORE : President of Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) and Markazi Jamaat Ahle Hadith, Allama Zubair Ahmed Zaheer said completely impartial and fair election is vitally needed to usher the country back into prosperity and development.
Addressing a meeting of scholars and party office-bearers on Sunday, he warned that if the people were barred from the right to choose their representatives freely, the country would suffer irreparable damage. He said all political parties registered in the Election Commission must be given equal opportunities and level playing field.
He cautioned that if the long prevailing perception of partiality towards certain political parties does not end, it will be a great tragedy which can cause irreparable damage to the country. Allama Zubair Ahmed Abid, Maulana Shoaib-ur-Rehman Qasmi, Mufti Ashiq Hussain Qadri, Maulana Zia-ur-Rehman Farooqi and Qari Khalid Mehmood also spoke. All the scholars decided to strongly support Chaudhry Muhammad Zahid from National Assembly Constituency NA-128, Prof Adnan Faisal Advocate from NA-119, Mian Ehsan Elahi from PP-170 and Hafiz Mian Muhammad Asghar from PP-163. They also appealed to the nation to vote only those candidates who are honest and clean, fulfill the criteria of Articles 62 and 63, and could play their role in raising the flag of Nizam-e-Mustafa in the country.
