Foreigner rescued in Sohrab Goth a day after abduction
Paramilitary Rangers and police safely rescued a South African national in Sohrab Goth on Wednesday, a day after he had been abducted over a dispute involving monetary transactions in the UAE.
Officials said on Wednesday that paramilitary soldiers and police in a joint operation based on intelligence inputs raided a place in Sohrab Goth, arrested a suspect and recovered the foreigner, identified as Amobi.
On Tuesday, the foreigner was abducted by five armed men from a Sohrab Goth bus stand where he had arrived from Lahore.
On receiving the information, District East SSP Syed Irfan Ali Bahadur ordered the registration of an FIR, and a joint team of police and Rangers raided the abductors' base in Sohrab Goth and arrested one of the suspects, Masood Khan.
The law enforcers used technical means to trace the abductee and make the arrest. The suspect was handed over to the police for further legal action.
Officials said the victim had a dispute over money transactions in the UAE. They said the suspects kidnapped Amobi in Pakistan, as the laws are strict in the UAE and the culprits were afraid they could get caught there.
