Mayor pays tribute to Benazir, says she fought for real freedom
Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab paid tribute to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for her services on her death anniversary, which was marked on Wednesday.
He said that December 27, 2007, was the saddest day in the history of Pakistan when she was taken away from her millions of admirers and the voice of democracy was forever silenced.
“The martyrdom of Bibi is an irreparable loss not only to Pakistan but also to the world of Islam. A brave woman who fought for the real freedom of the people and strengthening the state was martyred. Shaheed Bibi returned home to fight the cause of the people,” the mayor said this in a statement. He said every worker of Benazir Bhutto pledges allegiance to Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. “We are determined to fulfil the mission of Shaheed Bibi under the leadership of his beloved son Bilawal Bhutto,” he said.
He said that we would have to adopt the philosophy of Bibi that the source of power is the people and only the people, and on this day we pledge that each and every worker of PPP will continue their struggle until the state of Pakistan runs according to the constitution and law and democracy becomes strengthened in our country.
