Govt urged to withdraw hike in gas tariff
MANSEHRA: The people have demanded the government to withdraw the current hike in tariff and extra levies incorporated in the natural gas utility bills.
“We cannot pay such huge utility bills of natural gas, and the government should immediately withdraw the recent increases in its tariff and unjustified levies,” Mohammad Arif Rajpot, a local said.
He said the natural gas utility bills dispatched by SNGPL for December were five to six times higher as compared to previous years. “The government should reduce its expenses to appease international Monetary Funds to avail its loans, but it instead increased electricity and natural gas traffic and levied more taxes,” Rajpot said. A trader leader, Fayyaz Solaria, said people, including the business community, have already been suffering the brunt of the country’s highest-ever inflation, and such a mega increase would compel them to come onto the streets.
