February 8 polls: ANP forms body for seat adjustment talks
PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) on Sunday announced a five-member committee to hold talks with other political parties for possible seat-to-seat adjustment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the upcoming general election.
ANP provincial President Aimal Wali Khan, who is also Chairman of the Parliamentary Party Board, approved the formation of the five-member committee comprising Senator Hidayatullah Khan, Sardar Hussain Babak, Shakeel Bashir Khan Umarzai, Shahi Khan Sherani and Khadim Hussain.
The committee will hold talks with other political parties for possible seat-to-seat adjustment for upcoming general election while the district organizations of the ANP will evolve consensus with the same committee for seat adjustment with other parties at district level.
The ANP has nominated candidates for National Assembly and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seats in the province. The candidates have formally started election campaigns in their respective constituencies.
On Saturday, the ANP issued a list for four more candidates for National Assembly seats and nine for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly constituencies.
Former Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Saqibullah Khan Chamkani, son of former speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Hidayatullah Khan Chamkani, for NA 29 Peshawar, Arbab Zain Umar for NA-30 Peshawar, Hamid Toofan for NA-38 Karak and Ashraf Dawar for NA-40 North Waziristan.
The Pakhtun nationalist party has awarded tickets to nine more candidates for provincial assembly constituencies including Mian Huzaifa for PK-5 Swat, Malik Sajjad for PK-17 Lower Dir, former MPA Zarin Gul Bacha for PK-41 Torghar, Syed Mohammad Suhail Bacha for PK-55 Mardan,
Former chief minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti will be running for PK-58 Mardan, Haroon Khan for PK-59 Mardan, former MPA Salahuddin Khan for PK-77 Peshawar, Asghar Nawaz Advocate for PK-100 and Ashraf Dawar for PK-104 North Waziristan.
