MINGORA: Swat Democratic Lawyers Forum was merged into the Insaf Parliamentarian Lawyers Forum in Swat district on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference at Swat Press Club, lawyers from the District Bar Association, including Ehtsham Haider advocate, vice president Khawaja Farqan, general secretary Sulaiman, joint secretary Khalilur Rehman, information secretary Adnan Shahzada and other members said that the Democratic Lawyers Forum had been working since 2018, providing free legal service to people at different times.
“We have decided to work under the umbrella of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) as the young lawyers need political affiliation. Our members will work for the needy and victims and provide free legal aid to the poor people of the area,” said Ihtisham advocate.
He added that the new organisation and legal aid programme would be extended to the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a response to a question, he said that Sher Afzal Marwat advocate, who is the vice president of PTI, was arrested under the law. He said that if Sher Afzal Marwat had been arrested for his profession, they would have strongly condemned it.
He said that PTI-P could bring Pakistan out of the prevailing crises. The office-bearer of PTI-P lawyers wing also announced to organise a special training for the young lawyers in various parts of KP.
