LAHORE:Two female students of a private college en route from Kasur to Kashmir were shot at and injured by the firing of the unidentified suspects in Sundar on Tuesday.
The victims along with other students were travelling at night. As they reached Mohlanwal, the unidentified suspect/s reportedly riding a car chasing the victims’ bus opened fire at the bus. DIG Investigations Imran Kishwar said that three bullets were fired. A bullet hit the victim girl passing from temple and stuck in head. She was undergoing treatment in Lahore General Hospital under critical condition. The other bullet just brushed the victim on arm. The third bullet had hit the bus.
Kishwar said that initial investigations suggested that the incident was a result of the driver's rage on road. Reportedly, the suspected driver had opened fire after being frustrated due to confrontation on overtaking near Mohlanwal. The victims have been identified as Ayesha and Nimra.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken notice of the incident and has sought a report from CCPO Lahore. He directed that the accused should be arrested soon, and the injured girls should be provided with the best treatment facilities.
Meanwhile, Akbri Gate police arrested a suspected Tik Toker involved in shooting at and injuring a teenage neighbourer in the street. Reportedly, the suspect TikToker Wasif had resorted to firing in the air as a habit. On the day of the incident, he resorted to firing from his car in the street. The bullet hit the victim Zunair in his neck.
Suspected robber killed in encounter
A suspected robber was killed in a police encounter with a team of Organised Crime Unit Civil Lines. Reportedly, a team was taking the suspect Razi Shah for the identification purpose in Gujjarpura Police Station limits when his alleged accomplices opened fire. In exchange of firing, Razi received bullet injuries and died.
Two bike thieves arrested
Two members of a bike thieves gang involved in lifting bikes from Children’s Hospital were arrested by Naseerabad Police. The suspects were taking away a bike from the hospital. On victim's pointation, a police team arrested them from PECO Road. The arrested suspects were identified as Sher Khan and Abdul Rasheed.
Suspect dies in police custody
A suspect died in custody of South Cantonment Investigations Police. The victim identified as Ishaq reportedly was in police custody. Over 10 cases were registered against him. His condition deteriorated and he was shifted to hospital where he died. His family alleged that the victim died of torture. DIG Investigations Imran Kishwar has issued orders for inquiry into the matter. This is the second case of death in police custody in a week.
