Fazl reiterates support for Palestinian freedom struggle
KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Thursday that he and his party fully supported the actions of Palestinian freedom fighters and stood with them.
“We have delivered a message of peace through Al-Aqsa March. We want peace not only in Pakistan but all over the world. Peace is a fundamental human right while freedom and liberty are inherent human rights,” said Fazlur Rehman while addressing the 12-day Toofan Al-Aqsa March orgainsed by the JUIF Sindh chapter.
He congratulated the people of Sindh who participated in the JUIF march and said the party had delivered a message to the whole world. “The Muslim Ummah wants peace, and this peace is not just for Sindh or Pakistan, but we want it for the entire world. Peace is a fundamental human right, which includes the protection of human life, dignity, and honor”.
He said, “Our elders have sacrificed their lives for freedom and liberty. We have fought against the British for 150 years. We fully support the Palestinian movement for freedom, liberty, and their struggle. We stand with them because freedom and liberty are inherent human rights. We are proud of the Palestinians’ struggle, and we stand with them. I send a message to the people of Palestine that we are with you. Your movement is genuine and we salute your determination and struggle for freedom”.
He also criticised American and European policies which support Israel. “America and Europe are openly supporting Israel but regrettably Islamic world is absent and seems nowhere. The rulers of the Muslim Ummah have imposed their decisions on nations based on force,” he noted.
Addressing the participants of the march through a video link, former Palestinian prime minister Khaled Meshaal said that Palestinians are fighting for their freedom and liberty. “Our land has been seized and occupied. Our women and children are being martyred. However, the so-called civilised world has been silent over these atrocities,” he said.
He said, “We are grateful to the JUIF and people of Pakistan for standing with Palestine at this difficult time. Our mothers, sisters and children are being martyred while we are under attack from all the enemies of Islam, and we will continue our fight for freedom, liberty, and protection of Al-Aqsa. We urge the Muslim Ummah to cooperate with us.”
While commenting on the country’s political situation, Fazl said that the date for general elections had been announced and now a real competition will take place with the Israeli agents during the upcoming elections.
He said that JUIF will not accept any excuse about transparency of elections. “We will not accept fake results as in 2018. We are all present in the field and all Israeli agents will be defeated”.
He said that everyone knows about the fake results of the 2018 elections. “After the 2018 elections, we fought against the Israeli agent and held him responsible for his actions. Now it is time to abandon the apologetic attitude. We want economic and defensive freedom in the country. We want to strengthen institutions. We also want to send a message to America that whoever wants to come to power with the support of America will be held accountable”.
The JUIF chief said, “We demanded elections immediately, but at that time, friends had different opinions. Now the announcement of elections has been made, and we accept the challenge. We are not helpless and powerless. All the people should continue their struggle within the framework of Pakistan’s Constitution and laws.”
