Adil Najam re-elected WWF board member

WASHINGTON: WWF, one of the largest conservation organisations, has re-elected Pakistani national and a leading scholar Dr Adil Najam as its board member.

Dr Adil Najam is regarded as a global thinker on matters related to environment and development, and  has long experience of working with international, inter-governmental and non-governmenatal organisations in the fields of human and sustainable development. He has been serving as Dean of the Pardee School at Boston University and has been re-elected to the WWF International Board of Trustees for a second term. He was elected unanimously for a second four-year term. Dr Adil Najam also served as the Vice Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Pakistan.

According to the statement released by the WWF, Adil Najam is an expert on environmental policy, global governance and international development. Najam holds a PhD and two Masters’ degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He also has a Specialisation in Negotiation from the Programme on Negotiation at the Harvard Law School, and an engineering degree from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Pakistan. Dr. Najam was a Lead Author for the Third and Fourth Assessments of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), work for which the IPCC was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for advancing the public understanding of climate change science. Since its inception in 1961, WWF has invested almost US $10 billion in more than 13,000 projects worldwide. It has almost 80 country offices in the world.
