Gen Raheel Sharif’s mother passes away
President, PM, Zardari others condole the death

RAWALPINDI: The mother of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif passed away at the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) here on Saturday morning.
Her Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) was offered here at Chaklala on Saturday.
President Mamnoon Hussain, federal ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Lt Gen (R) Abdul Qadir, AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen Rashad Mehmood, Naval and Air chiefs, serving and retired civil and military officers and civil society representatives attended the funeral prayer.
Later, her body was flown to Lahore for burial.
In Lahore, the Namaz-e-Janaza of the mother of COAS Gen Raheel Sharif and Maj Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, was also held at Cavalry Ground Graveyard on Saturday afternoon. The Namaz-e-Janaza was attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Commander Lahore Corps Lt Gen Naweed Zaman and senior serving and retired armed forces officers, troops of Lahore Garrison and relatives of the deceased.
Later, she was buried at Cavalry Ground graveyard where wreaths were laid and dua was offered to invoke Allah’s blessings for the departed soul.
Qul ceremony will be held today at 2.00 pm at Army Guest House Lahore Cantt. Quran Khawani and dua will be offered at 4.00 pm.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif also expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise. Extending his condolences to the bereaved family, he prayed to Allah Almighty to bless the departed soul in eternal bliss.
Former President and Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari condoled the death of mother of the COAS.
In a condolence message the former president said death of mother is the greatest loss for anyone. It leaves a void in life of an individual that can never be filled. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain, senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi and central leader Moonis Elahi, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP Central Punjab, Political Secretary to the PM Asif Saeed Kirmani and Ansar Burney Trust Chairman Ansar Burney have condoled the death of mother of General Raheel Sharif.
In their separate condolence messages to the COAS, they expressed their profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant strength and courage to the members of the family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.
