One killed, three injured in rivals’ firing over parking issue

A 40-year-old man was killed and three others sustained wounds when a transport owner along with his armed accomplices opened firing in Lorri Adda police limits in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Abdul Sattar. Police said a transport owner’s group led by Irfan Khan Niazi along with his accomplices opened firing on his rival group over a parking issue.
As a result, Abdul Sattar and three others came under the firing range and received wounds. They were rushed to a local hospital where Abdul Sattar died.
Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a murder case against the accused including Irfan Khan Niazi and Akram.
ACCIDENTS: Total 650 accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 Districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which nine lives were lost and 518 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts.
Some 255 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.
SUSPENDED: CTO visited different under-construction areas of Orange Line Train and deployed two patrolling officers and six traffic wardens to improve traffic flow at Jane Mandar Chowk.
He suspended two traffic inspectors and six wardens for not taking action against wrong parking and encroachments. The CTO announced cash prizes for 14 wardens for performing their duty with dedication.
He directed divisional SPs and DSPs to take indiscriminate action against encroachment and wrong parking and violation of one-way.
profiteers: The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) started a crackdown on price-hike and arrested 78 people for overcharging on Friday.
Officials said drive was started on the directions of the DCO Lahore who directed all the price control magistrates to remain active in their respective areas and implement the price lists issued by the CDGL.
They said a total of 784 raids were conducted across the city and price control magistrates arrested 78 people out of whom 22 were sent to jail by the magistrates after hearing them on the spot. A total fine of Rs 22,000 was also imposed on the profiteers.
