Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) in collaboration with Troops Families Welfare Center (TFWC) conducted a week long awareness campaign aimed at sensitising and training families of army officers on Solid Waste Management and 3 R (reduce, reuse & recycling) at household level. 

The campaign was comprised of informational and awareness lecture, practical demonstration, quiz and question and answer session. Deputy Manager Operation Ms Fozia Khan and Deputy Manager Planning Ms Mehwish Hanif briefed women participants on the subject along with practical demonstration emphasising the need of managing domestic waste in the light of 3 R.

Major Fahad participated from Troops Families Welfare Center; Captain Fawad from Mehfooz Shaheed Garrison and Major Ali and Captain Athar from Bashir Lines terming it a highly beneficial activity. “More such activities will be organised in collaboration with Lahore Waste Management Company so that we can familiarise maximum number of people with modern practices of waste handling” said Major Fahad, representing TFWC.

Women participants who performed excellently in quiz session were awarded with prizes and appreciation certificates. 

Reference: Punjab University Department of Mathematics organised a condolence reference to pay tributes to great Mathematician and former chairman of the department, Prof Dr Abdul Majeed. 

According to a press release, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Chairman Department of Mathematics Prof Dr Muhammad Sharif, Dr Majeed family members, mathematicians, faculty members and students were present. 

Dr Mujahid Kamran acknowledged Dr Majeed’s academic achievements and in particular, his efforts about the land of Mustafa Town for PU teaching community.
