Oldest-living royal surprises fans at Wimbledon
The Duke of Kent is the first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth III
The Duke of Kent, the oldest member of the British royal family, has made a second public appearance in June 2026 at the age of 90.
Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, who is the first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was spotted during the day one of Wimbledon with Lady Susan Hussey on Monday, June 29.
On June 13, a video of the Duke of Kent went viral after he was seen pulling out his mobile phone on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
The Duke surprised royal fans as he started to record footage of both the RAF flypast and the thousands of spectators gathered to celebrate Trooping the Colour, the official birthday of King Charles III.
The Duke of Kent's wife, Katharine the Duchess of Kent, died at the age of 92. She was the oldest living member of the royal family at the time of her death.
In a move that reflected her modest nature, the Duchess dropped her HRH title later in life, preferring to be known simply as Mrs. Kent.
She stepped away from royal duties and quietly dedicated more than a decade to teaching music at a primary school in Hull.
