Trump humiliates FIFA president to his face with Argentina jibe?

US President Donald Trump hosted a reception at Trump Tower in Manhattan for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and international soccer stars on Friday.

Trump and Infantino spoke next to the golden trophy Trump plans to award to the winner of Sunday’s final between Argentina and Spain.

During his speech when Infantino said, “FIFA is the official happiness provider to humanity,” the US president interrupted him saying “unless his team loses.”

Trump’s remarks prompted laughter from the FIFA president who repeated the Republican’s remarks as “Unless the team loses.”

The moment went viral, with some fans suggesting that Trump humiliated Infantino to his face.

“Trump calling out Infantino for being corrupt right to his face on live camera is wild,” wrote an X user who shared the clip suggesting the US president meant Argentina when he said “unless his team loses.”

While the intention behind Trump’s remark is not known, the FIFA president’s reaction showed that it was taken as a lighthearted comment.

The president also patted Gianni’s shoulder after making the remark.

Infantino, born in Brig, Switzerland, is the son of two Italian immigrants.
