King Charles visits his charity at Royal Ascot amid funding cut

The King's Trust, a charity founded by King Charles III, said the monarch and Queen Camilla visited their stand on the second day of Royal Ascot horse racing event.

"Today, we were honoured to welcome Their Majesties The King and Queen to our stand, where we’re celebrating 50 years of unlocking potential," said the organization in a social  media post.

It added, "From broadcast and performances to security, catering and enterprise businesses, more than 20 Trust-supported young people are working across the event - gaining experience, building confidence and taking their next steps forward."

Meanwhile, Reuters news agency reported that  British charities will lose out ​on almost half a million pounds in donations from Royal Ascot this year after bookmakers ‌ended support for a major charity race initiative as the gaming sector adjusts to higher taxes and stricter oversight.

Since 2021, gambling companies including Betfair and Ladbrokes have donated profits from Thursday's Britannia Stakes to charity, an initiative which has raised over £3.6 ​million ($4.8 million) for the likes of Prostate Cancer UK and Missing People. Last year the Britannia ​Stakes raised some £450,000 for charity.

King Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, said in December 2025 that his doctors can reduce his treatment in 2026, describing the moment as a "blessing" and testament to remarkable medical advances.

Tests detected Charles's cancer after a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. Buckingham  palace said it would not provide regular updates on his treatment, and did not give details about the cancer.
