Sheriff confirms arrest near Savannah Guthrie's missing mother Nancy home
Savannah Guthrie and her family continue searching for answers in Nancy kidnapping case
The Pima County Sheriff's Department has confirmed the arrest of a woman near the home of Nancy, the mother of US TV host Savannah Guthrie.
Nancy has gone missing since February 1, and there are fears she has been abducted.
The department said a woman wanted in connection with a violent kidnapping investigation near the home of Savannah Guthrie's missing mom, Nancy Guthrie, has been arrested in Arizona.
Sheriff's Department says 40-year-old Coral Michelle Smith was taken into custody Monday on an active arrest warrant tied to a May aggravated assault and kidnapping case.
The officials said Smith allegedly assaulted a woman who later died from her injuries.
Detectives say the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident took place about 7 miles from the Catalina Foothills home where Nancy was last seen.
The officials have not indicated any connection between Coral's alleged crimes and Nancy's disappearance, which remains unsolved.
Meanwhile, Savannah and her family continue searching for answers and has offered a $1 million reward for information leading to her recovery Nancy Guthrie.
Earlier on June 12, the department also issued a statement regarding information circulating online related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.
They said, “We are aware of reports regarding an anonymous tip related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation that was provided to a group in Mexico. At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities.
“This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information.”
