Angelina Jolie reflects on 'very human' experience in 'Couture'
Angelina Jolie calls her forthcoming drama film 'a beautifully written piece'
Angelina Jolie recently admitted that her forthcoming movie Couture holds a special place in her heart.
For those unaware, the upcoming drama film, written and directed by Alice Winocour, showcases Jolie as American filmmaker Maxine Walker, who goes to attend Paris Fashion Week and ends up diagnosed with breast cancer.
Notably, the 51-year-old American actress and filmmaker’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, succumbed to breast and ovarian cancer in 2007. To mitigate the chances of life-threatening disease, she underwent a preventive double mastectomy in 2013 after she tested positive for the “faulty” BRCA1 gene, which increased her chances of developing breast cancer by 87 percent.
Sharing her thoughts about Couture, she admitted to PEOPLE magazine that the film “is a beautifully written piece about women from different countries."
"It has something to say that I thought could be useful to people, showing how everyone is dealing with things that make us very human, and that if we can figure out how to live through challenges by leaning on each other and having more empathy towards one another, the better and less alone we will be," the Maria star noted.
It is pertinent to mention that in addition to Jolie, Couture has an ensemble cast, including Louis Garrel, Ella Rumpf, Vincent Lindon, Anyier Anei, Garance Marillier, Aurore Clément, and others.
Couture is scheduled to be released in the United States’ cinemas on June 26, 2026, after its international release in France on February 18, 2026.
