Jennifer Lopez blames herself for four failed marriages? 'I really got to know myself'
Jennifer Lopez makes bombshell statement about her healing journey after fourth divorce from Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez recently admitted that her divorce from Ben Affleck played a key role in helping her figure out her life.
Lopez sat with hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes on their podcast Smartless, where she confessed her divorce from Affleck pushed her towards healing after placing blame on her ex-husbands for years.
For those unaware, the 56-year-old singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and businesswoman has been married four times, and her spouses include Ojani Noa (1997-1998), Chris Judd (2001-2003), Marc Anthony (2004-2014), and Affleck (2022-2025).
Articulating her thoughts, she said, “The person I am today is so different than the person I was even two years ago, it's crazy. And now I can really look at my life, appreciate it for what it is and what I've created for myself and be really happy.”
The Kiss of the Spider Woman star found it extremely difficult to deeply analyse herself, saying that it became crucial for her to figure herself out. She also stated that she learnt to stop “looking for love in other things” when she embarked on a healing journey.
Notably, there were times when Lopez felt like her life “blew up in my own face,” and it was “because of the choices” she made.”
“But it was also because of the fact that I had things that needed to change about myself that I didn't understand or recognize that was attracting certain things and attracting a certain type of experience into my life.”
“So, I want to give myself that credit too, but there comes a point where it's all so puzzling and wrong where you have to sit there,” the On the Floor hitmaker noted.
Following her fourth divorce from Affleck, she just sat there and was like, “I canceled my tour and I sat there and I was just like, ‘You need to f********* figure yourself out. What is going on with you? Forget about everybody else. There's nobody to blame here except yourself, in a certain way."'
“The past twenty years, it's been one thing, the past five years has been a tumult, and then the last two years has been kind of the healing process from that tumult where I really got to know myself,' Jennifer Lopez confessed.
