"Nothing gets on air without Savannah’s blessing"

Savannah Guthrie repeatedly pressed Jennifer Lopez about rumors involving her co-star Brett Goldstein.

As per the expert, the Today show’s growing obsession with celebrity gossip and viral moments is leaving some former NBC insiders stunned.

The insiders told the Naughty But Nice that longtime staffers barely recognize the morning program they once helped produce.

A former producer tells the expert, “This never would have happened under Meredith Vieira,” adding “Back then there was a clear line between journalism and gossip. That line is gone.”

It came when Savannah Guthrie, who’s mother Nancy has gone missing from February 1, repeatedly pressed Jennifer Lopez about rumors involving her co-star Brett Goldstein.

The gossip generated headlines across entertainment media and quickly went viral.

“Years ago, that would have been considered a tabloid question,” says a former staffer. “Today, it’s exactly the kind of moment producers are looking for.”

The insider continued, “Nothing gets on air without Savannah’s blessing.”

“This strategy isn’t happening around her—it’s happening with her support.”

Moreover, explaining the strategy, the insiders said the shift is no accident.

As competition from rival morning shows intensifies and social media increasingly dictates what audiences watch and share, the NBC is leaning harder into celebrity culture.
