'Royals are being given homes and palaces for free'
King Charles and his family draw criticism after a report into royal properties was published
The royal family is facing fresh criticism from anti-monarchists after an official report on royal properties was published.
The report published by the National Audit Office comes after controversy surrounding the Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's lease of the Crown Estate home.
The public spending watchdog revealed that King Charles foots the bill for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s accommodation in royal palaces despite both Andrew’s daughters being non-working royals.
And for a number of years, their adjusted rents were based on out-of-date open market valuations.
Reacting to the report, anti-monarchy group posted a statement on social media, taking aim King Charles and his family over the use of public funds.
The group said, "There's even more than this. Royals are being given homes and palaces for free. It's a social housing scheme for the super-rich. Remember that when your rent is raised, or you can't get on the property ladder. "
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor stripped of his royal titles and expelled from Royal Lodge in Windsor by King Charles over the former duke's links to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
