Taking to his official account on X (formerly Twitter), Fitzgerald Jr. posted a recent photograph of himself with his father and younger brother, Marcus Fitzgerald, which was captured on a golf course.

He penned, “My father was a man of strength, love and encouragement. He opened countless doors for me and my brother. He believed in us and pushed us to pursue every opportunity with conviction, he was the rock of our family.”

“He taught us that perseverance, hard work, and unwavering commitment are the foundations of a meaningful life and personal success. I will carry his love, words, and wisdom with me always,” the NFL Hall of Famer concluded.

Notably, this touching homage comes just a day after Fitzgerald Sr. left “peacefully” for eternal life.

He was “surrounded by his family and loved ones,” and the grieving family stated that they were “so grateful for all the love and support we have received during this difficult time, especially from the team at Fairview Southdale Hospital. We ask for privacy as we mourn his loss.”

ESPN reported that Fitzgerald Sr. started his sports journalism career in 1978 on the radio before being hired as a columnist for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder, where he worked for over 45 years.

It is pertinent to mention that Larry Fitzgerald Sr. received widespread recognition when he covered his son Larry Fitzgerald Jr. in a Super Bowl in 2009, becoming the first journalist to give coverage to his son, whose team, the Arizona Cardinals, reached Super Bowl XLIII at that time.
