King Charles shares moving moment with cancer patients
King Charles makes emotional visit to cancer centre
King Charles paid a heartfelt visit to York Hospital.
In order to recognize the inspiring work of staff and patients at the newly redeveloped Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre, the monarch made an emotional visit.
The King, who has served as Patron of Macmillan Cancer Support since 1997, met healthcare workers, volunteers, and local people living with cancer during the special engagement.
Official Instagram handle of the British royal family shared photos from King Charles' visit. In the caption, the palace wrote, "Recognising the inspiring @macmillancancer patients and staff."
They continued, "The King, Patron of Macmillan Cancer Support since 1997, visited York Hospital - the site of the newly redeveloped Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre."
Adding, "His Majesty met staff and patients including local people with lived experience of cancer who contributed to the centre’s design."
"The King also planted a rose in the garden, a new calm space created for visitors to enjoy nature during their time at the centre," the caption concluded.
`This comes as King Charles himself is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer that was diagnosed in early 2024.
However, his medical team has reportedly confirmed that the monarch is responding exceptionally well, allowing his treatment to move into a "precautionary phase."
