Duchess Sophie performs important role for King after Harry’s letter
Duchess of Edinburgh dutifully supports royal family as she takes on key task
Duchess Sophie has been quietly undertaking important tasks at the behest of King Charles’s office to represent the royals in significant spaces.
Dubbed as King’s ‘secret weapon’, Sophie attended The Duchess of Edinburgh Competition at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on Wednesday in Camberley.
It is hosted annually by the Royal Army Medical Service (RAMS) and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS), and attendees participate in activities designed to test physical, cognitive and teamwork abilities.
There are 10 teams that compete over five scored events throughout the day followed by a final all teams event. The royal then presents the prizes at the end.
The event supports the message of the royal family as they prepare to mark Remembrance Day in honour of the fallen soldiers.
Prince Edward’s wife holds several appointments as Royal Colonel, Colonel-in-Chief, and other honorary military roles in both the UK and Canada.
Just a day prior to the competition, on Tuesday, she attended the evening dinner at The Lansdowne Club, London, in her capacity as the patron of The Awareness Foundation.
Sophie presented CEO of United Christian Broadcasters, David L’Herroux, with a Certificate of Appreciation for the evening.
The series of events for the Duchess came after Prince Harry had penned an emotional letter honouring the soldiers in service and declared his own devotion to Britain and the service in a moving letter.
Sophie’s event had also coincided with Harry’s visit to Canada which kicked off on Wednesday.
He commemorated Remembrance Day in Toronto, meeting with soldiers from two historic Army Reserve units.
