Prince William received a special praise from a special member of the family after he kept his word during a poignant event.

Kensington Palace had revealed that in January 2024, the Prince of Wales had presented Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield for creating the first purpose-built centre dedicated entirely to MND care, research, education and holistic support in the UK.

On Thursday, William opened The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease in Leeds.

Unfortunately, the former rugby league star Rob Burrow died in June at the age of 41, four and a half years after being diagnosed with the degenerative disease.

When Rob had met William, he had asked him if he would open the centre, and even though Rob passed away, the future king fulfilled the wish to honour his legacy.

On Friday, Mike, who is husband to William’s cousin Zara Tindall, shared his appreciation for the move. He highlighted the event in his Instagram Story in a heartfelt nod.

In Leeds, William was joined by Rob’s wife Lindsey Burrow and Kevin. He said,

“I think Rob’s legacy will live on. And you guys should be so proud of your father because he really was an incredibly brave and very special man,” he said. “And this is a world-leading centre that’s going to save a lot of lives.”

He continued, “For that you shall all be very proud. And everyone is very grateful for letting us in on your family life and understanding what you’ve been managing together.”

Rob had been diagnosed with MND nearly two years after his retirement but chose to spread awareness and help find a cure.
