Four-year-old Tiger Luca undergoes CAT scan: Find out why
The scans are now being analyzed by specialist veterinary radiographers, with a report on their findings anticipated within the next two weeks
A four-year-old Amur tiger, along with a leopard and a cheetah named Mo, have all undergone CAT scans and other high-tech tests to diagnose their mysterious medical issues.
Luca underwent the CAT scan in a mobile unit after he was diagnosed with persistent “mobility issues.”
The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent said in a statement that the scans would be analyzed by veterinary radiographers, who would provide a report of the findings in a period of two weeks.
The tiger Luca wasn’t the only big cat to undergo the tests.
He, along with a mainland clouded leopard named Django and a Southern African cheetah, Mo, were anesthetized and moved to the mobile center.
The cause of the “mobility issues” affecting all the animals who have undergone cat scans remains undiagnosed.
The stunning snaps released after the medical examination show Luca looking calm and composed, with his paws resting in front of him and his eyes closed as he was prepared for the high-resolution scans.
After the procedure, the three big cats were transported back to their habitats while sedated.
After being returned to their enclosures, the animals were revived from anesthesia and closely monitored during their recovery.
The scans are now being analyzed by specialist veterinary radiographers, with a report on their findings anticipated within the next two weeks.
