Girl killed by brother over marriage issue

LAHORE

An 18-year-old girl was shot dead by her younger brother reportedly for turning down a marriage proposal in Hadiyara on Thursday. 

Iqra Ayub, 18, of Minhala Village was shot dead by her brother Usman Ayub, 14, after an exchange of some harsh words in their house. The girl was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her as brought dead. Police said initial investigations revealed that the girl was murdered because she had turned down a marriage proposal of her family’s choice. She wanted to marry somewhere else, police said. 

An investigation officer said a schoolmate had taunted the accused on the issue which angered the accused. Police registered a case against the accused on complaint of his father. 

WHEELIE: A 20-year-old man was killed in an accident in South Cantt. Police said Nauman was doing wheelie when he lost control of his bike and fell down, receiving injuries. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him as brought dead. 

GUARD DIES: A 55-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances in Gulberg. The man was security guard in a private insurance company. On the day of the incident, his condition deteriorated and he fell unconscious. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him as brought dead. Police were investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances in Sanda. Police said the victim was eating food when suddenly a morsel stuck in his throat. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him as brought dead. Police were investigating the matter. 

ARRESTED: Anti Vehicle Lifting Staff arrested two bike lifters and recovered 25 motorcycles from them. Police said the suspects identified as Khan Gul alias Billa and Ismail Khan were arrested by a special police team. The team raided a hide-out on a tip-off and arrested the suspects and recovered Rs. 1550,000 in cash, 25 bikes, weapons and master-keys. A case has been registered against them.
