KU introduces 3D printing technology
Karachi: The Visual Studies Department of the University of Karachi has introduced 3D printing technology at the campus, said Dr Duriya Kazi, the chairperson of the department, on Friday.
According to her, 3D printing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file and it has many applications, including making prototypes for manufacture, architectural models and medical prosthetics. More advanced versions could develop organ replacement, cartilage grafts and nerve regeneration, she added.
“Large scale 3D printers have also been used to produce full scale houses in China in less than three hours.”
According to her, 3D printer at the department was built from scratch by Ali Yousuf , who has been training students to use the facility since 2015.
Private BCom admit cards
The controller examinations of the KU, Professor Dr Arshad Azmi, said the admit cards of the candidates of external BCom Part-I and II, annual examinations-2015, had been sent to their postal addresses.
He said if any candidate had not received it yet, he should visit Room No1, Silver Jubilee Gate No1, KU, from February 20 to 22, between 10am to 4:30 pm to collect his admit card.
He advised that for issuance of duplicate admit cards; such candidates were required to bring the original receipt of the examination form, two passport size pictures, the original registration card with a photocopy and the CNIC along with a photocopy.
