KARACHI: Corps Commander Karachi Lt-Gen Naveed Mukhtar has said there should be no ambiguity that the operation being conducted in Karachi will continue till all of its targets were achieved.

He was addressing the passing-out parade of recruits of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, at its training centre and school here on Thursday. "Slower or on a faster pace, the operation in Karachi will continue," said the corps commander.

The corps commander thanked the public for their support and cooperation extended to security and law-enforcement agencies, saying that a collective effort would be made to conclude the drive to restore law and order and to reach the target where there would be no fear for the public.

He said no doubt the continuing operation in Karachi had achieved many successes but, on the foremost basis, it also revived a positive hope among the people. The corps commander appreciated the services of the Sindh Rangers in Karachi, saying that its office-bearers, officers and personnel were truly credited for restoring peace in Karachi by playing an active role in this regard. He said the Pakistan Rangers will continue discharging its duties to provide protection to masses of the province.

The corps commander, while addressing the parade, said that from now onwards, the Rangers personnel were no more individuals butrepresentatives of an institution. "So they should be cautious that their every act in the line of duty would represent their parent paramilitary force in the society." He also lauded the role of Rangers for promotion of sports and social activities in the city.

Earlier, Director-General Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, Major General Bilal Akbar, presented the welcome address at the passing-out parade. The parade was attended in large numbers by senior armed forces’ officials, families of martyred personnel of Rangers and relatives of the passed-out recruits.
