The Department of Metallurgical Engineering of the NED University has failed to get an accreditation letter from the Pakistan Engineering Council since 2014. This is due to the non-compliance of PEC regulations – including insufficient faculty members and students’ intake exceeding the prescribed limit. This is a great setback to students who graduated from the varsity after 2014 because they are being denied jobs in both public and private sector organisations. Those who have managed to secure jobs in public sector organisations on the condition that the PEC registration certificate will be submitted later are at risk of losing their jobs.
This shows the sheer negligence of the university’s administration which, despite having no accreditation since 2014, seems least interested in fulfilling the PEC requirements. The PEC too should consider softening its stance since the future of many students is at stake.
