Hazara University security in-charge booked

MANSEHRA: Police on Tuesday booked the security in-charge of the Hazara University (HU) over inappropriate security measures on the main campus.Mohammad Nawaz, an official at the Shinkiari Police Station, told reporters that a case was registered under Section 12 of the National Action Plan.

He said the case was registered after the security of the university was found inadequate as boundary walls were less than 10-feet-high and no police posts were established along the boundary walls.

“The number of security guards is also less than the required strength under the National Action Plan,” he maintained.The sources said that Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Hazara Range, Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, had summoned a security meeting following the terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda earlier this month and directed district police officers to beef up security of sensitive places and register cases against those not adopting adequate security measures.

Police in the Torghar district also registered the first information report (FIR) against the head of National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) under Section 12 of SVPS for not adopting appropriate security measures.

District Police Officer Ijaz Ahmad told reporters that the head of Nadra was served with warnings several times to adopt adequate security measures but he ignored the warnings. The police was left with no other option but to lodge an FIR against him. He said that other departments and schools would also face similar action if they failed to improve their security.
