KARACHI: Presenting his analysis in ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath’ on Tuesday, the host of the Geo News programme said the security agencies captured a group of educated youth who were working on drone technology.

The group had very dangerous preparations for terror activities in the country. The arrest of this group is an important clue about killing of Professor Shakil Auj and Professor Waheed-ur-Rahman of the University of Karachi.

It may be recalled that murderer of Professor Shakil Auj has been identified as an important member of al-Qaeda of the Sub-continent.Shahzeb Khanzada said there had been important revelations in the JIT that the explosives used in blasts in Sindh and Balochistan were brought from Afghanistan.

Telling about the matter of Mayor of Karachi, Shahzeb Khanzada said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement had nominated Wasim Akhtar for mayor. Wasim Akhtar’s name is important because it is listed among the Muttahida-related people in Dr Asim case. In addition to that the Rangers had sued Wasim Akhtar to pay Rs500 million in a defamation case.

Wasim Akhtar had also been vehemently criticising Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar in the past.Shahzeb Khanzada said Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto had vowed in the historic Charter of Democracy to end the politics of leg pulling, and avoid confrontations that might cause hindrances in the way of democracy and aver dictatorship. Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari, after the general election of 2008, appeared to be thwarting dictatorship and expressed willingness to continue to follow the Charter of Democracy.

This was the starting point from where the allegation against both of them about indulging in the politics of ‘Muk Muka’. Imran Khan had been blaming that the PML-N and PPP were engaged in Muk Muka politics.

Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari also appeared to be giving the impression of being younger and elder brother. Nawaz Sharif was blamed for friendly opposition. During the rule of the PPP, Nawaz Sharif adopted stern stand only on the movement for restoration of judiciary and memo scandal.

Nawaz Sharif sided with the PPP government when Tahirul Qadri staged dharna against Asif Zardari, and did not allow derailing democracy. Reciprocating, the PPP was on the side of Nawaz Sharif government formed after the PML-N’s majority win. Similarly the PPP extended full support to Nawaz government when Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri staged long march.

The situation is different now, but all hopes of the PPP are hooked to the N-League. The present differences of the PPP government in Sindh are not with the federation but with the interior minister. However the PPP holds good hopes and expects well from Nawaz Sharif.

Syed Arifeen, representative of Geo News, said that the group of youths arrested was working on drone technology. The group included three engineers. It was working on anti-drone technology, which would blind the American drones, jam their signals and then crash them to the ground. The same group had also planned to target important defence offices of Karachi and also attacks on some important officials coming out from Malir Cantonment.

Speaking in the programme, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said the nominated mayor of Karachi Wasim Akhtar had been working on various political, government and administrative positions. His abilities as an administrator are proved.

Farooq Sattar said the MQM had clear stance against terrorism. He said the cases against Wasim Akhtar had been framed during the past a few months and were politically motivated. The people who had been defending the MQM workers had been assumed as facilitators of terrorists. He recalled that there were several old cases against Dr Ishratul Ebad when he was made governor of Sindh. He said Wasim Akhtar would give impressive performance if he was given powers by the Sindh government. He would also perform well even if no powers were given.

He pointed out that the ratio of crime was less than the present one when Wasim Akhtar was home minister. Farooq Sattar said Wasim Akhtar was not a person but was the vision of Altaf Hussain. He represented the middle class and was a symbol of unity.
