Chinese educationist visits AIOU

Islamabad: An eminent Chinese Educationist Zhang Hui on Monday visited the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and showed keen interest in bilateral cooperation for promoting Chinese language in Pakistan.
During his meeting with AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui he said he found Pakistan a most friendly country for sharing common cultural heritage and traditional values.
Welcoming Zhang Hui, the vice chancellor said that the university was in process of establishing a language and culture Centre. He said he believed the language is a most effective tool for strengthening people-to-people ties contacts and to understand each other.
The proposed Centre will be established in collaboration with the Open University of China, Beijing. The Chinese university’s delegation will be visiting AIOU in March next for this purpose.
Zhang Hui, former vice president of Open University, Beijing appreciated the AIOU’s distance learning system and its role in promoting research-based education. Currently, he is on a 10-day visit to Pakistan to explore the avenues of promoting Chinese language in Pakistan.
