The crime of corruption
By our correspondents
June 01, 2016
This refers to the news report, ‘Angels won’t descend to end corruption, nepotism: CJP’ (May 29). The sort of elite that mostly inhabits our assemblies, its primary aim being to thrive through corruption and nepotism, is unlikely to devise means to curb these crimes. And the most the public can do is to select the best from among a bad lot, which is no good at all.
Perhaps the only solution would be for the CJP to take suo motu notice and interpret articles 62 and 63 in a simple and easily applicable form, and ensure their strict application in the next general elections. A better crop of future parliamentarians can be the only hope for the country and the nation.
