KALAYA: The families, which have recently returned to hometowns in Orakzai Agency, on Monday asked the government to make proper arrangements for their rehabilitation.
The demand came at a grand jirga of the 18 tribal elders. Member National Assembly Dr Ghazi Gulab Jamal, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl leader Maulana Hussain Jalali and Muttahidda Qabail Party, vice-chairman of the Malik Habib Noor Orakzai attended the meeting.
The participants of the jirga said the patriotic tribesmen offered sacrifices and the government should take measures to compensate the recently returned displaced families. They asked the National Database and Regulatory Authority to unblock the computerised national identity cards of around 1,24,000 tribesmen to facilitate journey back to their homes. The speakers said the government should conduct survey to assess damages and losses suffered by the families due to displacement and provide them proper financial assistance and relief.
