Petrol up by Rs1.7, diesel by Rs2.31 per litre

ISLAMABAD: The government on Monday increased the prices of petrol by Rs1.70 per litre and Diesel by Rs2.31 per litre for the month of May. According a notification issued by the Finance Division, the government has upward revised the prices of Motor Spirit (MS)92 RON petrol, HSD, SKO and LDO. The prices of Superior Kerosene Oil(SKO) was increased by Rs3.41 per litre and Light Diesel Oil(LDO) by Rs3.55 per liter. The finance division said that however despite a tight fiscal environment, the prime minister declined to pass on the full impact of the increase in prices to the consumers and decided that the government will absorb almost 50% of the impact of increase. Following the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority summary regarding increase in the prices of various petroleum products the government has increased the price of Petrol by Rs1.70 per litre, HSD by Rs2.31 per litre, kerosene by Rs3.41 per litre and that of light diesel oil (LDO) by Rs3.55 per litre.

As a result of the increase the prices of Petrol will increase from Rs86 per litre to Rs87.70 per litre, HSD 96.45 to Rs98.76 per litre. kerosene oil will be now available at Rs79.87 per litre from Rs76.46 and LDO has been increased to Rs68.85 per litre from Rs65.30 per litre.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ogra had proposed an increase of up to 10.6 percent in the princes of various petroleum products for the month of May. Ogra had proposed increase in the price of Petrol by Rs3.22 per litre or 3.7%, HSD by Rs5.02 per litre 5.2% , SKO by Rs6.97 per litre or 9.1% and LDO by Rs6.95 per litre or 10.6 %.
