Aqeel, Abid in Grass Court Tennis final : Sarah crowned ladies champ
LAHORE: Pakistan number 1 Aqeel Khan and Muhammad Abid are all set to play in the final of Sheheryar Malik National Grass Court Tennis Championship 2018 on Saturday at the PLTA tennis courts.
On Friday Sarah Mehboob beat Sara Mansoor 6-1, 7-1 in a well-contested ladies singles final. Sarah played very well in both the sets and beat her opponent to lift the title. In men’s singles first semifinal Aqeel beat Muzmul Murtaza by 6-3, 6-3 and in second semifinal Muhammad Abid beat Shahzad Khan by 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 after a tough battle which continued for more than one and half hour.
In under-18 semifinal Saqib Omer of KPK beat Ahmad Kamil of Lahore by 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 Nauman Aftab of Karachi beat Aqib Omer of KPK 6-3, 6-3.In U-14 semifinal Semi Zeb beat Uzair khan 6-0, 6-2, Hamid Israr beat Abdul Hanan khan 6-4, 6-1.
In U-12 semifinal Hamid Israr of KPK beat Ahtesham of Lahore by 8-3, Bilal Asim of Lahore beat Huzaifa khan of Peshwar by 8-5.In U-10 semifinal Hamza Roman beat Hamza Ali Rizwan 8-5, Abu Bakar Talha beat Ahtesham Humayun 8-6.
Tournament Director and Secretary PLTA Rashid Malik informed that in the final chief guest will be Saleem Saifullah, President Pakistan Tennis Federation. Marek Minkiewicz, CEO Metro Cash and Carry, will also grace the occasion.
